  • The Yummy Mummy Series

The term ‘Yummy Mummy’- widely used to describe the glamorous mothers who stand outside the school gates - made me wonder about how the modern mummy might wish herself to be portrayed in Museums one day. Yummy Mummy is probably rather self-centred and in Yummy Mummy’s Garden we see her beloved accessories placed on pillars with playful Egyptian Gods and Goddesses wreaking havoc when the Guardians are not looking. The owl was often featured on the reverse of ancient Egyptian coins and so it is right that they too should be placed on pillars. Yummy Mummy is very high maintenance and needs lots of money. But owls, in many mythologies, are often depicted as Guardians of the Underworld so their purpose is manifold.
